Thanks to Kirsty Anderson from jogscotland for the article in the Winter 2006 issue of Stride magazine.
what did we do?
Another hugely successful North Lanarkshire group (there is something in the water!). I chatted to jogscotland Achiever of the Year nominee Helen Docherty about her amazing achievements at the London Marathon, before backlogging an entire car park trying to arrange the 70+ joggers into a group photo. Then I was off with their Intermediate 2 group, for a fast paced, 5-mile jog around Chryston, Stepps and Muirhead.
A very sociable group, the Chryston joggers had plenty of stories of the races they had competed in together - just as well, as my breathing was becoming a little too laboured to talk! The enthusiastic Jog Leaders spurred us on with fancy terms like ‘an undulating route’ - turns out this means really hilly!!!
Chryston jogscotland are going all high-tec! Resident computer wiz and Jog Leader Adrian Elgar has designing a Chryston jogscotland website (http://www.jogscotland-chryston.org.uk) to help keep all their members informed of the local goings on, so keep your eyes on this cyberspace!
top tip/quick quote
The Arbroath Smokies Run in march provides the best post-race spread in Scotland!
Cream cakes that will make your eyes pop out apparently! But book in early as places are extremely limited.
“We don’t do hills, just gentle inclinations”
Margaret Sinclair, Jog Leader
