International Friendship Run New York By Margaret Deas

This run is part of the New York Marathon week-end events.

This 4 mile jog is for International Marathon entrants and friends and starts at the United Nations Building ending at the marathon finish at the Tavern on the Green in Central Park. I arrived to find I was one of twenty thousand other runners, enjoying the atmosphere and the sights of other runners dressed in fancy dress or National Costume.

Everyone was enjoying being part of this special run, and running with the Scottish runners behind a huge Saltire felt really good.

Prior to the start of the Friendship run Paula Radcliffe was presented with the Abebe Bikila award for her outstanding contribution to the sport and distance running, and I was there right at the front with runners from over 100 different countries.
